Games shall be played per FIFA rules with the following
modifications
1. NUMBER
OF PLAYERS: Games are played 5v5 - 8 players per team, or 6v6 -
9 players per team.
2. TEAM
UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT: All players shall wear the league
provided uniforms for games. All players must wear shin
guards worn under the socks so no portion of the shin guard is
showing. The home team shall provide the game ball. Soccer cleats
shall be worn.
3. FIELD
DIMENSIONS: Field size shall be 50 yds
x 70 yds. Goals are 18’ x 6’. Penalty
area shall be 25 yds x 15
yds. Field size is approximate and
subject to change.
4. GAME
DURATION: The game shall consist of two 25-minute halves
separated by a 5-minute halftime. Games tied after regulation play
shall end in a tie.
5. FIVE
YARD RULE: In all re-starts, including throw-ins and goalkeeper
distributions, defending players must stand at least five yards away
from the ball.
6.
THROW-INS: The team shall have three opportunities to execute a
legal throw-in. After three consecutive unsuccessful throw-ins,
there shall be a change of possession.
7. PENALTY
AREA: The goalkeeper may use his or her hands inside the penalty
area at any time. Once the goalkeeper has made contact with the ball
with his or her hands inside the penalty area, no player of the
opposing team may touch the ball until it has been intentionally
returned to play by the goalkeeper. The ball shall be back in play
when it leaves the goalkeeper’s possession in a forward motion or
when a member of the goalkeeper’s team takes control of the ball.
8. PENALTY
KICKS: When a penalty kick is awarded, it shall be a direct kick
taken from a point 6 yds from the center
of the goal. Once the kick is made, the ball is live and Goalkeeper
handling rules shall apply.
9.
INDIRECT KICKS: All free kicks, except penalty kicks and corner
kicks, are indirect. A possession change shall
occur if the free kick is not taken in a timely manner.
10. GOAL
KICKS: May be taken from any point 5 or more yards inside the
penalty area. No player may make contact with the ball until after
it leaves the penalty area. Violation of this rule shall result in
another attempt.
11. SLIDE
TACKLING IS NOT ALLOWED: Players should be encouraged to only
play the ball while standing.
12.
SUBSTITUTING: Each player must play at least ½ of the game.
Players shall not be removed from field for perceived lack of effort
or interest. Players may be substituted at any stoppage in play
with approval from the Referee. The player leaving the field must
exit at or near the midfield line and be completely off of the field
before the replacement player can go on.
13. COACHING:
Coaches must stay within 10 yards of half-field line and off the
playing field during the game. No coaching from the field or Goal
lines.
14. REFEREES:
The league shall provide a referee. In the event a referee is not
present at the designated game start time, the home team shall
provide a game official. The game official shall be responsible for
keeping time and ensuring the match is played within the spirit of
the rules. Games will start and end according to the schedule. All
decisions by the referee or game official are final.
15. GOAL
DIFFERENTIAL: If a team is leading by 5 goals, the opposing team
may add an additional player. The additional player shall be
removed when the goal differential is 2.
16. ABUSIVE OR
FOUL LANGUAGE: Abusive or foul language is not appropriate and
will not be tolerated. Anyone using inappropriate language or
making derogatory comments about the officials, players or coaches
shall be asked to leave the field.
